The White Hills Women’s Football team recently hosted a fantastic skill development night for our Under 12 Girls team, creating a fun and empowering evening of football, mentorship, and community spirit. This special training session aimed to develop the skills, boost confidence, and inspire the next generation of female footballers within our club.
The evening kicked off with a warm welcome and a quick team huddle, where the senior players introduced themselves to the girls and shared a little about their football journeys. The Under 12 girls were thrilled to meet the players they look up to on the pitch each weekend, and their excitement was clear from the beginning. The skills night was structured around a series of fun, high-energy drills which focused on core skill development such as ball control, dribbling, accurate passing, kicking, and defensive positioning.
The White Hills Women’s players led each a station, working hands-on with the girls to demonstrate techniques, offer tips, and encourage them every step of the way. One of the most valuable aspects of the session was the one-on-one attention the girls received. The senior players were incredibly supportive, taking time to answer questions, give feedback, and share personal advice. It was more than just a training session – it was a chance for the younger players to connect with strong, positive role models.
As the drills wrapped up, the session moved into small-sided games where the Women’s team members joined in, playing alongside the Under 12’s. The field was full of smiles, teamwork, and plenty of goals. The mix of age and experience created a unique and uplifting environment that encouraged the younger girls to challenge themselves and enjoy the game. The night finished with a group photo, some well-deserved snacks, and a quick chat from the coaches thanking everyone for their energy and involvement.
Many of the Under 12’s left the field buzzing with excitement, proudly wearing their White Hills colours and already talking about their next game. The White Hills Women’s Seniors and Under 12’s Skills Night was a huge success, bringing players together and building strong bonds across age levels. Nights like these show the power of sport for connection, teaching life lessons, and inspiring future stars to chase their goals – both on and off the field.
